About Exomind TMS
A New Approach to Treating Depression
If you struggle with depression, Diamond Lake Clinic St. Paul now offers Exomind—a non-invasive treatment designed to target symptoms of Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). TMS directly activates key areas of the brain responsible for regulating emotions, cognitive function, and self-control. It strengthens healthy brain activity and enhances neural connectivity to improve overall well-being.
Proven Technology You Can Trust
Since receiving FDA clearance in 2008, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) has built a strong track record, supported by over 40 years of clinical research and millions of treatments performed. This advanced technology delivers targeted magnetic pulses that stimulate critical regions of the brain and boost neuronal activity.
Real Results with Comfort and Convenience
In a recent IRB clinical trial, 83% of patients with depression reported feeling less depressed three months after completing treatment. Additionally, 88% experienced improved mental well-being scores, while 91% described the treatments as comfortable. On a pain scale from 0 to 10, patients rated Exomind treatments at an average of just 0.2.
Exomind TMS also offers additional benefits—it requires no surgery, involves no invasive procedures, and fits easily into your schedule with short sessions lasting just 20–40 minutes. Most importantly, it supports long-term mental wellness.
Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS TMS THERAPY?
TMS stands for transcranial magnetic stimulation. It is used to treat depression by stimulating the brain non-invasively using electromagnetic fields, similar to those produced by an MRI machine. During TMS Therapy, a magnetic field is administered in very short pulses to the part of the brain that research has demonstrated to be associated with depression.
HOW DOES TMS THERAPY WORK
The Exomind TMS system uses short pulses of magnetic fields to stimulate the area of the brain that is thought to function abnormally in patients with depression. The magnetic field produces an electric current in the brain that stimulates the brain cells (neurons). This results in changes that are thought to be beneficial in the treatment of depression.
HOW MANY SESSIONS? DOES INSURANCE COVER THE TREATMENTS?
Exomind is offered in two different lengths: Daily from Monday-Friday for approximate 7 weeks or the same number of pulses delivered in 6 sessions.
A standard 36-session Exomind™ TMS treatment course may be covered by insurance, depending on your plan. We encourage patients to verify coverage with their insurance provider prior to starting treatment. The 6-session accelerated protocol, which delivers the same number of pulses, is not currently covered by insurance and is offered as an out-of-pocket option.
